Scuplture

From 2000 to 2007 I worked on a series of ceramic busts which explore themes of beauty, aging, and mortality. The busts are made from pristine porcelain, manipulated and formed in an intentionally "unpristine" way. They are anonymous. The portraits on the surface are of women between the ages of 45 and 85 that I have photographed. The other surface imagery addresses issues of beauty, desire, fragility, emptiness, stages of life, and the passage of time.

The pieces were built in procelain and then painted with fired on pigments using photographic projection techniques.
